Editorial Shoot

Late 2010 I got speaking with Plymouth based photographer Chris Conway. He was looking to shoot editorial style fashion images: very sophisticated, high fashion with big accessories, polished hair and dramatic make-up. I was extremely interested in collaborating with Chris. The concept of the shoot was something I had not tried before and having a theme to work by made it more of a challenge. He sent me some imagery to understand the feel he wanted to achieve.

The clothes were to be sexy and very sheer, enough to cover the model but also to add a mystique of femininity. I began designing the outfits; researching into underwear styles and 1940’s pin up fashion. The shoot was to be in black and white so colour was not needed, but texture a must. Being on a strict budget I searched the local fabric shops for luscious looking fabrics that wouldn’t “break the bank”. I found a gorgeous cotton satin that had a light stiffness to it with a soft shine appearance and slight stretch. I then decided to use lace to add the textural element. My idea for the clothes was to create simple designs with lace paneling, ruffles and gathers.

Lace Jumpsuit with Hood. High Waisted paneled Shorts with Bandeau Top. High Waisted Curve Paneled Skirt with Halterneck Top. Complete Lace Dress with bottom Ruffle. Side Lace Bodice with Gathered Lace Shorts. Side Lace Trim Skirt with Body Suit.

I set to work making the clothes, having a strict time scale and small budget I couldn’t afford to make mistakes.

On the day of the shoot Chris Conway had organized two models Georgina Mee and Diana Green as well as hair stylist Lyndy Ewings and make up artists Rebecca Searle.

We got together and started styling and dressing the models. They looked amazing and fortunately the clothes fit. Here are the pics...
