Photo-shoot Practice Day!

So with a fashion shoot lined up for next week I thought I'd better get some practice in. Using my boyfriends Canon 450D, we went for a drive to find a good location......

First spot: Saltram House.
This is a gorgeous place for walks, country side and fairy tale themed photo-shoots but for practicing with the camera definitely not fun! I got one decent picture of the only flowers that were blooming...

Feeling bored but wanting to enjoy the sunshine we decided to drive around a bit more and ended up going to Marshmills flyover. A combination of urban concrete walls covered in graffiti next to a river surrounded by woods. Just walking to the spot I managed to get some images of Leon under the walk way bridges. I love the way the sunlight brightens up the back scenery while the lights from the tunnel light up Leon.
The graffiti covered towers underneath the dual carriage way make awesome back drops for shoots. Although very over used, its what you create from it!
Here are my pics from today.....

Getting back in to photography I have set up a Flickr account to upload my images too so come follow me on there www.flickr.com/stephaniedemelzab

Sequin Playsuit ^.^

Hmmm so I was searching through my box of fabric and came across an old design from college that I never got round to finishing! Fabric already cut; all I had to do was sew it together.....

lolita Shoot...

In my second year at college I based my collection on the street fashions of Japan, mainly focusing on the Lolita style. Interpreting classic fashion themes such as gothic, punk, and fairy tale to design garments that are theatrical yet still wearable.

The Designs

On the Catwalk

Since then I have used the clothes in various shoots, but never had them photographed together.... and so my latest idea unravels..... Gorgeous model and fellow designer Debbie Daiquiri mentioned she's planning a shoot with a new fresh face Suzanne Burchell, and suggested we use my designs and me as photographer! I am so excited about this. Haven't photographed a shoot in a long while but have all the ideas of what imagery I want to create.

Here is my shoot moodboard:

I'm hoping to combine the theatrical lolita look with sexy, high fashion attitude. OTT accessories, lace and ruffles, sexy shoes, fantasy make-up and of course eye catching poses. Cant wait, one week and four days!

Research..

I've been busy researching for inspirational images for my new fashion collection and the photo-shoot theme. I get totally lost in the galleries on fashionising.com and love searching other blogs for imagery and photographers.
Late last night I came across an amazing photographer, Bruno Dayan. His work his beautiful. From the theme to the colour hues. Each picture absolve atmosphere.

I chose these images as my favorite from his website. I would
love to replicate the feel and elegance of these images with my designs. The pictures are very classical and elegant in appearance with a twist of gothic attitude. Exactly the feel I am trying to create with my new collection.

I especially love the center picture. The location is just amazing, then the stance of the models and to finish it off the colour hues and contrast.

When my latest collection is finished I definitely plan to create this kind of image.

Busy Sewing.....

With my latest commission finished I am able to get back to my new collection "Little Black Dress".
The collection consists of a range of dresses and outer garments. Inspired by Gothic and burlesque styles the collection combines luxury fabrics with prints to create high fashion, glamorous outfits; while black remains the continuing colour theme.

There are seven outfits within the collection. And until all seven outfits are made I am trying my best NOT to show off the designs…. But here is a little sneaky peek at one of the garments in production!
